Morning in Langtang Village. (Kate Lynam)

The next morning we set out from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3800m) where we would have a rest day to aclimatise.

Days 11-16 - Trek to Gosainkund Lakes

In the tea house at night. After Syabru (2130m), we stayed at Sing Gompa (3254m) - a climb of 1124m in a day, easier now that we were aclimatised to the altitude.

Laurabina village lodge.

Then overnight at Laurabine village (3901m) before we even reached the Gosainkund lakes, some totally freak and unseasonal weather rolled in.

Snow in the morning. (Kate Lynam)

One of our porters was hurt when a ball of lightening hit the lodge, and a snow storm turned the mountains into serious terrain by morning.

Snow ball fights!

Pammy!

Snow ball fights ensued while we waited to see what the weather would do.

The porters join in the fun.

When the weather started to lift, we continued on in the snow toward the Gosainkund lakes, sacred to Hindus.

Walking on as the weather lifted.

Half way there.

It was heavy going and we were relieved to reach little Gosainkund tea house. However the snow was too deep for us to make it over the Laurabina Pass beyond the lakes.

Women's Feedback

"Very enjoyable and exceeded expectations…a great break - superb"

"I enjoyed the holiday immensely. I personally felt frustrated we could not be more adventurous and I would consider my own and the group capabilities for future trips, and the amount of time planned out of the mountains in the schedule. However the scenery was great, the trek well planned and accommodating and it was a great introduction to Nepal and the Himalayas. We encountered several challenging situations, which were excellently managed by Pammy and it was her calm and competence, which prevented panic and enabled the entire team to remain safe and I cannot recommend her crisis management too highly. This was helped by the fact that western women were mostly cooperative and experienced in team or project management and also wanted to exercise their skills in team building and in supporting the leader". Sophy

"Excellent, exceeded expectations and the problems were handled well". Becky

"What can one say about trekking in the highest mountains in the world with Pammy - neither mountains or leader can be bettered!! The trek from beginning to end has been a fantastic experience and the best holiday I have ever been one. We walked in the hot sun, up high mountains and trekked in snow up to the knee all in the same day. It was both frightening and exhilarating at the same time but with Pammy's leadership and management of women and conditions you felt safe. Pammy is the tops!!" Kath

"An excellent introduction to a stunning area of Nepal. The sudden adverse weather conditions highlighted Pammy's excellence as a leader in extreme conditions". Jenny

"Way beyond the expectations - I came to Nepal with an open mind and I cannot believe the range of situations we found ourselves in. Extreme contrasts in all ways; culture, scenery, people, accommodation and weather!! I felt extremely well cared for; there was constant information given, good preparation, evaluation of events, de-briefing sessions, which all helped to make us feel safe even in extreme events…" Kate

"The holiday absolutely exceeded all my expectations. The scenery was fantastic and varied. There was a good variety of trekking and city visits. The hotel in Kathmandu and Nagargot were fantastic, clean, efficient and comfortable. The transport arrangements were excellent, comfortable and timely on the whole. Pammy was funny, friendly, informative, experienced with the right blend of friendliness and professionalism. She made me feel safe in difficult conditions and was a great source of knowledge and entertainment in equal measure!"

"The Nepal trek was a fantastic trip - it was exhausting, exhilarating, challenging and empowering. How many holidays does one receive a blessing from a Lauia - just as well as only days later we faced extreme and freak weather conditions and thankfully emerged unscathed.... Nepal is a fantastic country, with wonderful welcoming people. It is rich in culture, with magnificent panoramas and whilst I knew Everest was there, I hadn't anticipated having the opportunity to fly up close…fantastic!!"
